About the Comox Valley Sports & Social Club

The CVSSC started in the Fall of 2008 in order to fill a gap in organized recreational sports for adults in the Comox Valley. The result of the launch has been access and opportunity: It’s now easier than ever for players of all skill levels from Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland and surrounding areas to get on a team and play any number of sports that we have on tap. Click here for a list of those sports.

Our Comox Valley sports leagues have a fun-first focus and are about having a good time, getting some exercise and meeting new people through recreation. We also put on tournaments and social events.

The Comox Valley Sports & Social Club is a labour of love. We want to provide the best recreational sports leagues experience we can and make it easy to get out, play, maybe meet some people, and have some fun.

To us that means:
  • Playing the same night each week. It’s easy to remember, easy to schedule and you can play more than one sport.
  • Posting the sports league sked, standings, rules, and field/gym locations online. Voila! Easy to look at and/or print.
  • Adding a fun, social feel to the games. Nobody’s going pro. Let’s embrace it.
  • Offering a variety of sports so that it’s easy to try something new.
  • Playing co-ed and fun-first. This way you can get out with friends, family, or other members of the opposite sex. It also makes it less intimidating to try something new.
  • And putting together organized sports in the Comox Valley like dodgeball, indoor soccer, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, ultimate frisbee, flag football, outdoor soccer, slo-pitch, kickball, basketball and floor hockey.

The People Behind the Club

Scott and Erin Petersen love sports and love the Comox Valley, so launching a sports club in such a spectacular part of B.C.’s Vancouver Island seemed only natural. A lot goes into organizing sports leagues, tournaments and events that never gets seen, but Scott’s background in a variety of sports and sports journalism, and Erin’s background in event planning are a good combination.

We hope to see you out on the fields and courts, letting the good times roll. Oh, and we always love to hear from you if you have any questions, comments or suggestions on how we can make the leagues even better. After all, these adult sports leagues are about the players.
